History

History of the village starts from the rule of ‘Valluva Konathiri’. Chelakkad was part of the ‘Old Valluvanadu’, and later it becomes under the rule of Mysore Emperor, Tippu Sultan [See Malabar Manual-Page 706,708].

Majority of the population is belongs to the Muslim Community. Other religions like Hindus and Christians are also present in this village.

Like other British-ruled villages, the social circumstances have made an impact on the history of this village too.

Agriculture was the main activity of this village in the olden days. After the independence period and during the oil boom of Gulf, a large movement of workers to these Gulf States was taken place. Still this movement is going on.
